2019 Midget Fall Classic; Saturday games – 5p.

FOXBORO –The first day of the final New England Pro Am Hockey tournament of the season continued into Saturday evening at the Foxboro Sports Center. The following is a look at the reported games from the 5 o’clock hour on the first day of the 2019 Midget Fall Classic.

Rink 1 – 95 Giants U16 8 vs. Boston Jr. Huskies White (Ward) 1:

The 95 Giants wasted little dispatching their foes en route to a Saturday evening victory at the Foxboro Sports Center. They defeated the Boston Jr. Huskies 8-1 in U16 division play at the 2019 Midget Fall Classic.

Kevin McCaney, Matt Mahoney and Kirk Leach each had a goal in the first 4:20 seconds of the contest to put the Giants well on their way to victory. It was, however, just their start as Alex Infanger and another from McCaney made it a 5-0 game at the halftime break.

The Huskies offense did find its way onto the scoresheet with a Jack Kelly goal at 15:58, but there were still three more to be had for the Giants in the second frame as they cemented there 8-1 victory. Kirk added his second of the game, while McCaney added two more for a four-goal showing, which tied with teammate TJ Dwyer’s four assist to lead the game in scoring.

Evan Monoghan was credited as the winning goaltender.

Rink 2 – Providence Hockey Club U15 8 vs. East Coast Leafs U15 4:

After dropping their first contest of the tournament earlier in the day, Providence Hockey Club rebounded on Saturday evening at the 2019 Midget Fall Classic, doubling up the East Coast Leafs for the 8-4 victory.

Special teams did the trick for Providence. Two shorthanded scores and two power play scores set their advantage at 4-0 before the game was even 10-minutes old.

Though the Leaf’s did cap off the first half’s scoring with their first goal of the game – a goal by Nick Jewell at 19:41 – Providence had added two even strength goals of their own before that point to make it 6-1 at the intermission.

The Leafs did outscore their opponent in the second half, but it was only by a margin of 3-2, which was not enough to catch Providence. The game ended with a score of 8-4, highlighted by four points from Providence’s Jacob Cox (3G, 1A) and three from Troy Senn (1G, 2A).

Rink 3 – Boston Jr. Huskies U15 (Fasano) 5 vs. Boston Advantage U15 5:

As both teams capped off their first day of play at New England Pro Am Hockey’s 2019 Midget Fall Classic, the Boston Jr. Huskies and Boston Advantage U15 played to a 5-5 draw at the Foxboro Sports Center.

Not only was the final score the same, so were the scores of each individual half. Each team scored twice in the first and thrice in the second. The Huskies Robert Young credited as the game’s leading scorer with two goals and an assist.
