Boston Advantage Split closes Day 1 with win

FOXBORO – The first of three days in New England Pro-Am’s Midget Classic is complete. The day’s schedule came to a close on Saturday night at the Foxboro Sports Center as Boston Advantage U18 Split posted a 5-2 win over Team Comcast.

Advantage did the bulk of their work in the latter stages of the first half to pace their three-goal victory. Matt Treiber, the game’s leading scorer, started things with the game’s first at 1:39. Just past the midway point, Declan Conway got onto the score sheet with a goal at 15:23. Treiber scored his second at 20:53 and Mike Mackintire finished off the rally with a goal coming at 23:09, giving Boston a 4-0 lead through 25:00.

Down four, Comcast rallied to win the second half, but the comeback was not enough to get ahead of Advantage. Chris Maratea was credited with getting Comcast on the board at 4:34, but a power play goal from Treiber completed his hat trick and re-established the four-goal cushion at 9:54.

It was not until it was too late that Comcast got any closer as Kristopher Hastings goal to finish the game’s scoring came with just six-seconds remaining in the contest.
