Breakers overpowering in U18 championship win.

FOXBORO – New England Pro Am Hockey’s 2017 Midget Fall Classic came to an end on Monday afternoon at the Foxboro Sports Center. As the tournament drew to its close, the Bay State Breakers left as its top prize-winner after defeating the Minuteman Flames 5-1 in the U18 championship game.

The Flames rolled into the championship game after a perfect 3-0 record in the tournament’s opening round – scoring 20 and giving up just three – and then defeating the Walpole Express in the semifinals earlier in the day. They were then on the scoreboard less than 30-seconds into the contest. Rather than it being a sign of things to come for the team, however, it was as far as the good times went.

Bay State quickly took over and much of the contest was spent in the Flames’ zone. The assault began on a goal from Zachary Taylor at 6:44. Bay State scored twice more within the next three minutes to put a stranglehold on the scoreboard.

Leading 3-1, the Breakers started strong and finished strong, adding another pair of goals in the game’s final third to slam the door on the 5-1, championship win.

With a goal and two assists, Andrew Violandi led the game in scoring. Shane Comeau assisted on a pair of Breaker’s to finish as the game’s only other multiple point scorer.

Rob Kornack was in net for the Bay State win. Dhillon Wilde was credited with the goal for the Flames.
