KGHD closes opening round with first win

FOXBORO – With 54 games complete, the opening round of the 2015 Midget Fall Classic has drawn to a close, wrapping up on Sunday night at the Foxboro Sports Center as KGHD defeated the South Shore Kings 3-1 in U18 Division play.

For KGHD, they saved their best for last. In search of their first win of the tournament, they took the game’s first lead at 14:46 on a goal from Matt Tauro. The lead did not last, the Kings drawing the game back to even on a Connor Hall goal late in the opening frame, but KGHD stayed on the path to victory, pulling away in the second half.

Ken Lockwood notched his second of the weekend at 5:09 of the second to restore the KGHD lead at 2-1. Tauro then finished off the contest as he began it, netting another to secure the win, this at 24:15 of the closing half.
