FOXBORO –New England Pro Am Hockey began their final tournament of the season on Saturday at the Foxboro Sports Center. The following is a look at the reported noontime games of the 2019 Midget Fall Classic.
Rink 1 – East Coast Leafs U15 2 vs. Boston Jr. Huskies U15 (Fasano) 8:
It was fours aside for the Boston Jr. Huskies as they got their stay at the 2019 Midget Fall Classic started with an 8-2 victory over the East Coast Leafs.
Boston came out swinging hard in the first half, setting the tone with three goals in the first 3:15 of the contest. Kevin Arthur (1:25), Nicholas Fasano (2:36) and Charlie DiMartino (3:15) netted the first three Huskie scores, while Danny Keegan made it a 4-0, halftime lead with his score at 20:36 of the first period.
The Leafs did manage to break into the scoring books with two of their own in the second half – one each for Zach Girard and Eric Landry – but the Huskies doubled up that goal total and their overall total with another four-goal half to close out the 8-2 victory.
DiMartino was the game’s only multi-point scorer with two goals in the contest. Spencer Merrick was credited with the victory from the Boston net.
Rink 2 – Boston Advantage U15 vs. Providence Hockey Club U15:
Rink 3 – Lovell Knights U18 1 vs. Boston Jr. Huskies Red (Chamberlain) 2:
It was a tight one for the Boston Jr. Huskies and the Lovell Knights as they started their U18 slate of games at the 2019 Midget Fall Classic. In the end, the Huskies just held off the Knights to get the better of their foes, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.
Carson Priante was the offensive hero on the day for Boston, accounting for all his team’s scores. His two, unassisted goals – at 16:43 and 23:42 of the first – set the Huskies apart from the Knights.
Lovell was on the board early in the concluding session, halving their deficit with a score at 2:38, but there was no further comeback to be had as the game concluded 2-1. Netminder Bruce Salisbury credited with the victory for the Huskies.
