FOXBORO –The final day of round robin play at the 2019 Midget Fall Classic was played throughout Sunday at the Foxboro Sports Center. The following is a look at the reported 11:30 a.m. games.
Rink 1 – Lovell Knights U18 1 vs. Wonderland Wizards U18 7:
In their first of two games on the day, the Wonderland Wizards took home the victory as they defeated the Lovell Knights 7-1 on Sunday morning.
Wonderland started quick and then did not let Lovell back into the contest. They posted three goals in the first and then added another two to start the second, amassing a 5-0 lead before the Knights came through with a goal by Jake Finn.
Finn’s score, however, was answered by another pair of Wonderland goals to close out their 7-1 victory. Edward Gravanis led the offense with a goal and two assists. Andrew Stietzel was credited with the win in net.
Rink 2 – Boston Jr. Huskies Red (Chamberland) 0 vs. Rice Memorial Prep 5:
Two up and two down for Rice Memorial Prep through two games at the 2019 Midget Fall Classic. That second victory came by virtue of a 5-0 shutout of the Boston Jr. Huskies early on Sunday.
The offense came spread throughout the game and throughout the lineup for Rice. Three goals in the first half, two more in the second half, all five goals coming from a different skater. Only Julien Blouin had multiple points in the contest, credited with a goal and an assist.
Rasmus Kettunen was credited with the shutout.
Rink 3 – North Jersey Avalanche 4 vs. Providence Hockey Club U16 South 2:
In their first of two contests of the day, the North Jersey Avalanche came away with a 4-2 victory over Providence Hockey Club. It was also their second win of the tournament.
A three-goal spurt in the first put the Avalanche on top. Daniel McCarty scored at the tail end of the opening frame to put Providence on the board, but the 3-1 deficit at the intermission is as close as they came to catching North Jersey.
Eduard Dovgan once again made it a three-goal advantage to start the second before Cameron Gaffney closed out the game’s scoring with his third goal of the tournament.
Ricky Palmeri was credited with the win in the Avs net.
